| Iran revolution |
[Jun. 17th, 2009|07:58 am] |
Regardless of the politics, they are using brutal tactics to try and silence their populous. If you know of any twitter links that are still legit, please keep them to yourself to protect those sending them.
http://www.fark.com
They've been having excellent discussion threads on this, with one user keeping a compiled and as accurate as possible list of what has been occurring when. Current thread is here: http://www.fark.com/cgi/comments.pl?IDLink=4452999 Fark users have also been setting up proxies for those inside Iran, trying to help them circumvent the government stranglehold on information and the internet.
The pirate bay gets in on the action! http://iran.whyweprotest.net
LOTS of good information here. Pictures, videos, some posts from those still in Iran. Keep in mind many of the images are very, very graphic. There are some people there who are probably trying to spread mis-information, so take everything with a grain of salt. Unofficial election results have also been posted there, showing that the votes (as suspected) were reversed. Unconfirmed as of right now. |

| Political Alert - HR669 |
[Apr. 13th, 2009|01:32 pm] |
HR 669 is a bill that would effectively ban quite a few pets in the United States. Not only that, but it prohibits the breeding of many kinds of animals, and the transportation of them across state lines. Want to take your hamster with you when you move? Sorry, not allowed. Violation of the law would result in (among other things) confiscation and termination of said animal. This affects virtually all pets, with the exception of dogs and cats, which would be 'grandfathered' in. That's right...no tropical fish, no birds, no reptiles, no llamas, no nothing.
http://www.pijac.org/files/public/US_HR_669.pdf and http://www.petconnection.com/blog/2009/04/10/proposed-federal-law/ for more information.
This is the informational video being used to spread this around, so as many people as possible protest it:
Here's the website to fight this bill. It has the letters and such already written, and all you do is put in your zip to locate your representatives: http://nohr669.com/
Please take action, and spread this to as many other people as you can. Cross posting is more than encouraged. |

Your result for What Your Taste in Art Says About You Test... Conscientious, Fulfilled, and Spiritual16 Renaissance, -3 Islamic, 11 Ukiyo-e, -26 Cubist, -18 Abstract and -8 Impressionist!
The Renaissance was a cultural movement that profoundly affected European intellectual life. Beginning in Italy, and spreading to the rest of Europe by the 16th century, its influence affected literature, philosopy, religion, art, politics, science, and all other aspects of intellectual enquiry. Renaissance artists looked at the human aspect of life in their art. They did not reject religion but tended to look at it in it's purest form to create visions they thought depicted the ideals of religion. Painters of this time had their own style and created works based on morality, religion, and human nature. Many of the paintings depicted what they believed to be the corrupt nature of man. People that like Renaissance paintings like things that are more challenging. They tend to have a high emotional stability. They also tend to be more concientious then average. They have a basic understanding of human nature and therefore are not easily surprised by anything that people may do. They enjoy life and enjoy living. They are very aware of their own mortality but do not dwell on the end but what they are doing in the present. They enjoy learning, but may tend to be a bit more closed minded to new ideas as they feel that the viewpoint they have has been well researched and considered. These people are more old fashioned and not quite as progressive. They enjoy the finer things in life like comfort, a good meal, and homelife. They tend to be more spiritual or religious by nature. They are open to new aesthetic experiences. Take What Your Taste in Art Says About You Test at HelloQuizzy |

Let me preface this by saying that I don't have a lust for power. I just like to overthrow stupid people in power and replace them with someone better...preferably someone chosen by me. :)

Your result for Reincarnation Placement Exam... Spy70% Intrigue, 59% Civilization, 59% Humanity, 40% Urbanization.
Live well, ride fast, and die young, baby! Well, you turned out to be something of a rogue. This may not be exactly the life you wanted... but it's difficult to place people who want to enjoy all the romance and intrigue of civilization, without actually having a demanding job. Besides, since you enjoy the benefits of humanity so much more than you enjoy the press of humanity itself... you shouldn't have much trouble with your role in life. The good news: You're free and clever, and you can do whatever the heck you want. The bad news: everybody else is free and clever too, and they're not all on your side. With the flick of a blade, you can change the course of history. Might be fun. Might be a little messy. Take Reincarnation Placement Exam at HelloQuizzy |
